Day Trip to Estes & Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park
I am soooo lucky to live in Colorado. Sometimes, as a Colorado native I don't appreciate just how beautiful it is. but when we drive up Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park it really makes me appreciate the beauty of the mountains and how awesome our Creator is!!!
The kiddos wanted to get out and touch the snow. It was so warm outside, we really didn't even need jackets.
It's hard to believe my daughter is 6 months pregnant.
How do you like our Jack in the Box antenna topper?
With my zoom, you can actually tell these are Elk...
And these are Rocky Mountain Bighorn.

Day Trip to Estes
Driving into Estes Park on May 7th...just look at that fresh snow...
A glimpse of the Stanley Hotel (love the 10x optical zoom on my new camera)...
Twin Owls rock formation...
They were having their annual duck race although we missed it...
Here's the rest of my group, my husband, and my middle daughter and her 2 kiddos...
After some shopping we had lunch at Penelope's...
My daughter's chili cheese dog - Yummm!!! (Just the way I like a hot dog - with so much stuff on top you can't taste the hot dog...)
My hamburger & fries...the kiddos split a grilled cheese (I didn't get a picture)...
No trip to Estes is complete without stopping to buy some famous salt water taffy from
The Taffy Shop...
They still use the same equipment I used to watch when I was a little kid...
And they are always so polite...
Yum-o!!!
It was such a beautiful day that we stopped for a rest by the River..
to be continued...

The Karate Kid
On May 5, my 8-year-old grandson tested for his high red belt in karate. This is one step away from the coveted black belt. Here are the pictures...
He is the center one in the back row...
He is the one on the left in this picture...
And here he is on the right...
Here he is sparring on the right...
And in this picture he is on the left.

Gymnastics
When I was in Louisville, KY, I had a chance to watch my 4-year-old grand-daughter's gymnastics class. The gym is absolutely amazing and I was impressed with the individualized attention that was given to each kiddo.
My grand-daughter, the leader of the pack...
the crab...
Getting help on the uneven parallel bars...
Learning the handstand...
Hopping...
So cute on the balance beam.

Hats, Hats, Hats
I was in Louisville, KY visiting my daughter and her family just before Derby Day (and I meant to post this a few weeks ago, but didn't get around to it). We were shopping at the local mall and this is what we saw...
Hats at JCPenney...
More hats at JCPenney...
Still more hats at JCPenney...
Hats at "A Taste of Kentucky"...
Reminds me of the seasonal trips to Denver when I was little with my Mother and Grandmother to visit their favorite Hat Shop.

Spring Planting
I'm so excited because it is almost time for spring planting in Colorado. I bought some petunias, marigolds, geraniums, a bleeding heart and a columbine, but the thing I'm really excited about is my Minerva Rose of Sharon (hibiscus syriacus). Here are pictures of what it will look like...
I can't wait for it to look like this!!!

A Soda Fountain
About a month ago when I was in North Carolina, my daughter & son-in-law took me to a town near them, called Pittsboro. We did some "antiquing" and then stopped at an old-fashioned soda fountain for respite and refreshment. This soda fountain/former drug store was so impressive I just had to take photos. It was truly like stepping into yesteryear...
Here I am stepping into yesteryear...ha!ha!...that's a joke...
Anyway, I thought it was awfully cute and just had to share it.
